New Year's Resolution

Tuesday, January 2, 2024 by Barbara Dietz | News

Happy New Year!

I hope you are all having a great winter break and that you have had a joyous holiday!

Now is the time many of us make our resolutions for the new year. This year, I am making a New Year’s resolution for the studio. While we have many plans for the future, my most important resolution is to improve communication between you and the studio. Some of the things I want to do are to improve the website, post on this blog and social media more frequently, and make it easier for you to connect with your teachers.

I will be sending information to help you access the Student/Parent Portal. This area allows you to do many things such as logging practice times, reviewing lesson notes, getting all blog posts, and even paying your invoice. Please check your email in the next few days (if you don’t see it, check your junk mail or let us now that it didn’t get to you).

Enjoy the rest of your winter break! We will be open for lessons on January 8th!

Lot's of News!

I'm back from my trip to the Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Camp! It was a great experience. I did a lot more playing and a lot more walking that I am used to. My watch told me I surpassed 10k steps every day I was there! There were over 80 campers this year, pretty good for the first year back in person. I had participated the past two years virtually. While I enjoyed that experience, it was great to see everyone face to face. I have already decided that I will attend next year. If any middle school or high school students are interested in next year's camp, I will be posting information about MWROC here and at the studio as soon as details are announced.

We have had more students sign up for lessons. And now, we can once again offer voice lessons. My friend, Sharon Shaffer will begin teaching in August! She is an amazing vocalist and teacher. With a masters in vocal pedagogy and many years of experience, she will be a perfect addition to our studio. I am so excited to have her here.

Don't forget, our studio is closed on the Saturday of Twins Days (August 6th). It is just about impossible to get to the studio, and if you can get here, you will not find a place to park. Our next vacation break will be August 29th through September 5th. We have the method books used by Twinsburg Orchestras and Bands. Stop by and get yours!

It's also not too early to think about High School solo/ensemble. We will start working on music for you right away. If you have an ensemble that could use some coaching, we can offer that to your group. Call for details and availability.

It's great to be back and seeing everyone again. Let's get started on a new year of making music together!

It's Been Awhile

It has been some time since I last posted. Time can sure get away from you.

We have had a few changes to our studio. Kiko Weinroth has decided to move on to a different career and sadly is no longer in our studio. We wish her well.

We have also had to change our open times to "by appointment only". We continue to have our lessons and we still have music and supplies available. We just ask that you call first to see if we are open. If you get our voicemail, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We have had several students participate in both High School and Middle School Solo/Ensemble contests over the past few years and are proud to say that they all received Excellent and Superior ratings. We also continue to have students successfully audition for Regional Orchestra. Just recently, Jos and Jaren auditioned for the Cleveland Youth Pops Orchestra and were accepted. They will get the chance to work with the Cleveland Pops condutor, Carl Topilow. Congratualtions boys!

We are finally back to having in person recitals! I am pleased to say that we had as many piano students as string students. It's a wonderful experience for our students and the parents love seeing the results of all the work our students have been doing.

That's the news for now. I hope to be a more frequent blogger. That's my midyear's resolution.
